Program Objectives and Outcomes

Educational Goals of Food Engineering Department:

To graduate engineers who can:

  1. Use basic science, technology, and engineering knowledge in designing and analyzing food production systems and processes, and in defining and solving the related problems
  2. Be creative, entrepreneur, and leader in food, nutrition, and related areas; have awareness in professional responsibility, ethics, and project management
  3. Take responsibility in interdisciplinary academic studies, be preferred in national and international research and development units
  4. Sustain life-long learning skills, update themselves, and have social and communication skills

Vision and Mission of Food Engineering Department:

To produce outcomes for the benefit of industry and society, and to conduct internationally recognized and respected education programs supported with scientific research; to educate students having the ability to design innovative products and processes for the developing food industry considering the principles of food engineering and nutrition.

MÜDEK program çıktıları (PÇ) doğrultusunda IYTE Gıda Mühendisliği PÇ’lerinin ingilizceleri aşağıdaki şekilde güncellenmiştir.

LO No Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this programme, students will be able to:
1 Use knowledge in mathematics, science, and engineering in solving basic and complex engineering problems.
2 Identify, define, formulate, and solve complex food engineering problems; use appropriate analyses and modelling methods for this purpose.
3 Design complex processes, part of a process or a product considering realistic constraints and conditions to meet certain requirements.
4 Select, develop, and apply modern techniques and tools to analyze and solve complex problems in food engineering; efficiently use information technologies for this purpose.
5 Design and conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, and interpret the results for investigating complex food engineering problems and research topics.
6 Conduct individual and team works in food engineering and other multi-disciplinary environments.
7 Use oral and written Turkish and English communication skills efficiently.
8 Gain awareness of the importance of life-long learning; access knowledge, follow advancements in science and technology, and update him/herself continuously.
9 Understand professional and ethical responsibilities; acquire and apply knowledge in standards used in engineering applications, work and laboratory safety.
10 Acquire knowledge in project, risk, and innovation management, entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
11 Acquire awareness in effects of food engineering applications on health, environment, and food safety in global and social levels.
12 Acquire basic knowledge about human nutrition and nutritional metabolism, and use this knowledge to solve nutrition related problems.
