A Call for Shared Responsibility for a Clean and Sustainable Campus
Our Institute is shaping the future of the region and the world not only through its advanced technology–focused education and research, but also through its vision that guides society. We are the hope and the most highly educated segment of this society; therefore, the mission of elevating our society’s socio-economic and cultural level rests on our shoulders. Our mission to lead society begins not only with research projects, but with the culture of life we build, teach, and embody in every corner of our campus.
Located in one of the most beautiful regions of Türkiye, protecting and enhancing our campus is a shared responsibility for all of us. A sustainable, environmentally friendly, and clean campus begins with the most basic sensitivities, such as not littering and not discarding cigarette butts on the ground.
I would like to thank all colleagues who demonstrate sensitivity on this matter. We invest significant effort in keeping our campus clean and work to create a model campus in every sense by developing sustainable spaces. However, I must honestly state that part of the current situation does not yet fully align with our vision of a “Green Campus” and a “Model IZTECH.” For the sake of our country’s future and the protection of nature, it is extremely important to instill the awareness of not littering—especially not throwing cigarette butts on the ground.
I kindly ask that during the first week of the new semester, you devote the first ten minutes of your initial class sessions to this topic and emphasize its importance.
As we shape the future, let us set an example for society by keeping our campus—our home—clean.
Your support and leadership on this matter are highly valuable to me.
With my warm regards,
Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran
